Located near Shimo-Takaido station, Genkiya is a family-run
izakaya dining bar. The shops atmosphere is welcoming and home-like. All seats have comfortable leg space beneath the table, unlike some traditional Japanese izakayas with floor seating.
Genkiya has an open kitchen and specializes in seasonal dishes. The most popular dish is grilled mackerel seared with a blowtorch. The owner also recommends the Japanese-style fried chicken wings with a homemade sauce. The wide selection of alcohol includes the popular “bamboo sake.”
For a little fun, there is an arm-wrestling stand where you
can challenge friends, family, or even staff members. Since Genkiya is located in Suginami, away from the Tokyo city center, it has a local feel, creating a cozy atmosphere.
